Sections of Orpington High Street will be closed for road repairs – starting from today (May 7).

The works, led by contractor Riney, will take place over three phases across a two-week period.

The first phase will start on May 7, with the road closed at the Homefield Rise junction. The closure will affect the area around the NatWest Bank and is expected to last until May 10.

During this time, traffic will be rerouted via Homefield Rise, Gravel Pit Way, and Spur Road in both directions.

Access to businesses will be possible on either side of the closure point and access to Knoll Rise will be maintained via the Homefield Rise roundabout.

Phase two will start on May 14, with the War Memorial roundabout and Zebra Crossing affected.

This closure is set to last until May 17, with traffic diverted via the same alternate route as phase one.

Again, all businesses will remain accessible, with access to Knoll Rise maintained through the Homefield Rise roundabout.

Bromley Council has clarified that there may be a lack of site presence while the materials cure before traffic can drive over it.

The final phase will commence on May 21, this time affecting Homefield Rise at the junction with Orpington High Street.

Temporary three-way traffic signals will be installed at this roundabout and will remain in place until May 24.

While access to businesses will be consistent during this final phase, there may be delays due to the temporary traffic lights.
