Prosecutors have dropped a charge against a Powys man accused of possessing powerful opiate heroin with intent to supply it to someone else almost four years ago.
Eric Burns, aged 45, had pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case was sent to the crown court for trial.
However, a judge was told on Friday, April 12, that prosecutors had reviewed the case and decided to "discontinue that offence".
The Meifod man will next appear at Welshpool Magistrates' Court for sentencing over two other drug offences to which he'd pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.

Evans admitted possessing Class A drug heroin and Class B drug cannabis in Llanfyllin on August 30, 2020. Possession is a criminal offence but often has less serious consequences than intent to supply.
His Honour Judge Niclas Parry accepted the prosecution's invitation to send the sentencing back to Welshpool Magistrates' Court "bearing in mind his antecedent history".
The judge told Evans: "I’m surprised that you remember doing this it was so long ago.
"Don’t forget the 16th of April at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court and it will be knocked on the head there, I’m sure."
