SKIPTON Cycling Club is gearing up for its annual Le Petit Depart cycling event due to take place in June.

Starting in Skipton, the two routes follow much of that taken by the Grand Depart of the 2014 Tour de France and the 2019 World Championship road race route.

Entrants can choose between a 80-mile 'sportive' for the more experienced cyclists, heading up to Kettlewell and Buckden, and a 38-mile 'scenic' route which takes in Grassington. The routes will include feed stops along the way, and a free meal at the finish for sportive riders.

The event was originally set up as a partnership between the former Craven District Council and Skipton Cycle Club as a legacy event for the 2014 Tour de France: Grand Depart.

This year, the event, on Sunday, June 2 will be raising money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, near Keighley.
