Travellers who allegedly caused traffic disruption after setting up a camp by a school have been moved on.
Around six caravans and other cars were seen parked up in Firs Lane, opposite Firs Farm Wetlands and near an entrance for Winchmore School.
They were first spotted on Monday (January 23) and some residents in the area alerted police of their concerns about the illegal encampment.
According to one eyewitness, the traveller camp meant the school gates in Firs Farm were closed on Tuesday (January 24), which contributed to traffic in the area as parents were forced to drop off their kids through the Laburnum Grove entrance.
According to Enfield Council, the camp has since been cleared.
An Enfield Council spokesperson said: “We appreciate residents’ concerns regarding illegal encampments.
“Enfield Council and its partners responded accordingly to the travellers who had illegally occupied the site in question.
“We promptly arranged for the site to be cleared and resecured and we thank residents, the local school and businesses for their patience.”
