A crypto trader from Enfield paid off his debts by swapping his £7,000 Rolex for Bitcoin – and is now worth £1.1 million.

Kain Roomes, 29, gave away his most valuable possessions in 2018 when he was struggling for cash and was behind on his mortgage.

It was from there he ventured into the world of Bitcoin after his dad encouraged him to look into crypto.

After the part-time model traded in the watch - his 22nd birthday present - Mr Roomes bought different crypto currencies and studied the market, learning about the best times and places to invest.

His first investment – which he called a “leap of faith” - scored him £100,000 and after gradually building his investments, his portfolio reached its highest value ever of £2.8 million in May 2021.

A huge crash in the market in March 2022 led to Mr Roomes losing half of his wealth, but it still stands at £1,067,767.

He said: "It was nerve-wracking making such a big gamble, but I managed to expand my portfolio twenty-fold from one investment.

“I suffered a lot after the crash, but I have full faith in crypto.”

Calling it a “risky game”, he added: "I've experienced highs and lows while I've been trading and there have been times where I thought I wasn't going to recover.

"At one point I opened my trading account and 90 per cent of my portfolio had gone.”

Mr Roomes credits his dad for his mentorship throughout the whole experience – and now the two travel around the world to luxury locations like Dubai, the Maldives and Jamaica.

Now he is focusing his efforts on writing his first book to give people advice about getting into crypto.

He said: "I'm prudent with my spending - I don't own a car or fancy clothes.

"I've taken profits to enjoy nice holidays with my family but that's the extent of it - just because I'm a millionaire I don't want to waste what I've earned.”
