A London support group for Jewish families has opened a new expanded Barnet facility in response to a "growing crisis".
The London Jewish Family Centre opened on a larger site in Temple Fortune on May 17 - the centre says the expansion is a necessary response to a growing need for its services.
The original facility opened in Golders Green in 1999, providing services to families in the community, especially those going through difficulties such as divorce, health issues, financial struggles, and domestic violence.
Founder and director Sandy Weinbaum said: “The centre has reached a watershed moment where the community can see and understand the scope of the family support services run by the centre."
The new facility will also offer adult and child therapy, emotional support, advocacy, court mandated contact, child handover facilities and legal advocacy. The centre has noticed all of these types of family problems are on the rise after Covid.
Greater demand on their support, at a time when other facilities are closing and there is a shortage of care staff left the centre strugling to meet the community's need.
Mrs Weinbaum added: “Right now, there is no government funding, our services are run entirely on donations to provide essential help to Jewish families facing incredibly great challenges.
"We are grateful for peoples’ support, and your donations are helping save lives."
