Edmonton's local policing team were left in disbelief after a huge knife was found near McDonald's.

The blade was discovered in the alleyway at the rear of the restaurant in Fore Street by officers while carrying out weapon sweeps.

Upper Edmonton Police tweeted: "Oh come on!! Really?!?! I don't know what to say, words fail me!

"I cant believe that this horrendous #knife #Blade was found in the alleyway at the rear of McDonald's Fore St #N18 by Officers carrying out #weapon sweeps.

"At least it's now off the street!"

Numerous people responded to the tweet expressing their shock and praising officers for getting it off the streets.

It comes amid a nationwide crackdown on knife crime as fears rise that London will see a record number of teenage homicides this year.
