Police have confirmed the two people arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction in Enfield have been released without further action.

Last month a man and a woman were arrested following what police at the time described as a “suspicious incident” involving a white van in the Enfield Lock area.

The case sparked fears of more than one incident in the borough after a 10-year-old went missing in a separate incident, but although investigations were ongoing officers revealed at the time they believed no children were abducted on either occasion.

The Met Police has now confirmed that both people, who had been released on bail after the Enfield Lock incident on May 15, will face no further action.

A spokesman said: “Officers carried out extensive enquiries and found no evidence of any offences being committed.

"Two people arrested will face no further action.”

He also confirmed that investigations were no longer ongoing and the case had been concluded.
