Two drug dealers have been jailed for a total of almost 30 years after £3 million worth of heroin was seized from an address in Enfield.

Paul Hinds, 57, of Maybury Close, Enfield, and Mehmet Yucetas, 47, of Central Avenue, Enfield, were sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday (April 23)

On August 23 2019, Metropolitan Police officers, investigating drug trafficking, found 30kg of heroin inside a holdall on a bed in Hinds' home.

Hinds was in the bedroom and while a search was being carried out, officers noticed Yucetas approaching the address.

He was detained and both men were found to have similar encrypted mobile devices on them.

Yucetas' home was later searched and police say they found further evidence of drug supply.

Mobile phone analysis established Hinds and Yucetas had organised the heroin to be delivered to Hinds' home in the early hours of August 23.

The jury at Wood Green Crown Court would later hear evidence from a drugs expert who estimated the heroin to be worth over £3 million in street value terms.

In court on Friday, both men were jailed, having previously been convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and failure to disclose pin codes to protected information held within encrypted mobile phones.

Hinds was sentenced to 14 years and three months in prison, while Yucetas was jailed for 15 years.

Serious crime prevention orders were granted against both men, restricting their use of mobile phones, preventing their association and limiting their financial capabilities once released from prison.

Detective Superintendent Neil Ballard, from the Met's specialist crime command, said: "These two men were known to law enforcement agencies for drug trafficking, and this was a significant amount of heroin taken off the streets of London.

"Hinds and Yucetas' sentences should stand as a deterrent to others. It's a clear example that the Met continues to target those involved in serious and organised crime to reduce drugs supply and the violence associated with it."
