A woman had died following a flat fire this morning.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze in Springfield Avenue, Haringey, after being called around 6.33am (April 16).

London Fire Brigade (LFB) says a fire broke out at a first floor five-roomed flat within a semi-detached house.

An aerial appliance is being used to gain access to the roof and tackle the fire from above.

The LFB confirmed one woman died at the scene.

The brigade added that the fire has caused significant damage to the first floor flat and the roof.

Residents in the adjacent property were advised to leave by the Brigade as a precaution.

Firefighters from Hornsey, Holloway, Finchley and Tottenham fire stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
