Drivers are set to be able to use a debit or credit card to pay for off-street parking throughout Haringey under proposals that have been published.

Motorists currently have to use a pay by phone facility to use short term, shared use and off-street parking places across the borough.

That facility will remain but according to a notice from Haringey Council in this week’s Enfield Independent, it also plans to introduce a pay and display option, with payment made by a debit or credit card, to take effect from March 18.

Meanwhile, roadworks are set to cause disruption to several roads in Haringey, starting from Monday.

The installation of a new electricity supply means parking is set to be suspended in Crescent Road, from No. 1B to the junction with Albert Road, until Friday, March 5.

Work to modernise traffic lights in North Hill is due to lead to the suspension of parking and a bus stop, from 9.30am to 4pm daily, from Monday also until March 5.

Goodwyns Vale is due to be closed at its junction with Colney Hatch Lane from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Thursday, March 4 for sewer cleaning.

Vehicles are set to be prohibited from using the Hale Gardens junction with High Cross Road from March 8 to March 12 while a new water connection is put in place.

These works will also lead to the suspension of parking from outside Nos. 10 to 16 Hale Gardens and opposite.

Muswell Hill Place, at its junction with Muswell Hill, is also due to be temporarily shut from March 8 to March 13 for water connection works.

During this time parking will be suspended the junction to No. 82 Muswell Hill Place on both sides of the road.

All these orders will only apply at such times and as directed by traffic signs displayed in the affected areas.
