A man who died after being stabbed has been named by his family as taxi driver Gabriel Bringye.

Mr Bringye was found by police inside a vehicle in Jarrow Road, Tottenham Hale, at 7.21pm last night about concerns were raised about an injured man.

Police were joined by paramedics and the London Air Ambulance but Mr Bringye was pronounced dead at the scene at 8pm.

As murder detectives hunt for the person(s) responsible for the attack, Mr Bringye's sister paid tribute to her brother on a fundraising page titled 'Help take Gabriel home'.

She wrote: "Unfortunately, my brother was killed while working as a taxi driver. We don't have much information about what happened because the police don't tell us anything and the culprit has not been caught yet.

"They are left with a family that will never recover."

She added: "Please help us take Gabriel home, to be with his parents, in the country where he was born and he would have wanted to go back one day but not like that."

More than £11,000 has been raised on the Go Fund Me page.

The Met confirmed in a statement this morning that it had launched a murder investigation.

The police said in a statement: "Police were called to Jarrow Road, N17 at 7.21pm on Wednesday, 17 February after concerns were raised about an injured man who was unresponsive inside a vehicle at the location.

"Officers attended with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance.

"The man - believed to be in his 30s - was found with an injury consistent with having been stabbed. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 8pm. His next of kin has been informed.

"Homicide detectives from Specialist Crime have been informed and are leading the investigation. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. There have been no arrests."

Police say they want to hear from anyone who noticed anything unusual in the area around Jarrow Road on Wednesday, or who knows anything about this incident.
