Christmas classics are among a colourful programme of films set to entertain visitors returning to the Rheged.

The popular visitor centre reopened last week after an eight-month closure, which also saw it undergo renovation work.

Among the films set to grace the centre's 60ft cinema screen are A Christmas Carol, CBeebies Hansel and Gretel, Elf and The Gruffalo.

There will also be three screenings of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Blue Peter's Peter Duncan, a critically acclaimed Panto Dame, decided to use his back garden to film the socially-distanced panto.

Cinemagoers will be given a time-slot for entry to the Covid-secure suite where the audience will be socially distanced.

Sarah Dunning, chairman of Westmorland Limited, said the team were delighted to welcome people back.

"We’re lucky that Rheged has the space to create a really safe environment for customers," she said.
