I'm wondering if we should call on the services of King Canute again.

Boris Johnson is keen to prohibit fossil fuelled cars from 2030 along with many other 'green' initiatives, but the whole of the UK is responsible for only 1% of world CO2 emissions.

King Canute's legacy is needed to demonstrate that without the agreement of China, USA, Russia etc, the tide of CO2 is unstoppable.

Perhaps we should spend the 'green' money on sea defences and air conditioning to cope with the climate change.

As it is, we will be left with a crippled transport system, expensive electric home heating, an overloaded National Grid and a shrinking GDP.

Still, we would have set an example, wouldn't we?
