The management team at a shopping centre has won an award for its efforts to support the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

A public vote saw the team at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre crowned winners of the Covid-19 Response Award: Supporting the Community, a new category in this year’s IWFM Impact Awards.

The award celebrates outstanding teams and the positive impact they have made in responding to unprecedented circumstances.

The Edmonton Green team were shortlisted for going above and beyond their on-site role, organising and administrating care packages and donations to the wider Edmonton community, including residents living at the heart of the scheme and over 30 local charities and community groups.

Items were purchased from Edmonton Green’s on-site retailers and the team made two deliveries a week, including one to Enfield Stands Together, the COVID response organisation set up by Enfield Council and Enfield Voluntary Action.

Sabri Marsaoui, Asset Director, said: “When COVID-19 hit, its impact was disproportionately felt in areas such as Edmonton Green.

“While the team already saw their role as working to make a positive impact on the community, the pandemic made this all the more relevant and we knew that we needed to step up and support as much as we could.

“I am amazingly proud of our team. The support we provided enabled us to strengthen existing relationships with the local community and build new ones, all while running the shopping centre.”

The IWFM Impact Awards announced this year’s winner via a virtual ceremony, where Edmonton Green pipped four other finalists to the post in their category.

Marie Kyriacou-Edwards, operations manager, said: “We are absolutely delightedto have won this award.

“Facilities management often throws up the unexpected, but it is in the essence of FM to seek to work together and to find positive solutions.

“This recognition is another step towards our ongoing goal of putting Edmonton Green Shopping Centre at the heart of the community.”
