A family have been left "heartbroken" after they found out their cats had been stolen from a cattery.

Police are investigating a burglary which happened at Pages Farm Stables in Dagger Lane, Elstree, last week.

Yeti and Cloud, two large male Ragdoll cats, were stolen, along with their identical grey and burgundy Pets at Home carriers.

It's believed the burglary took place between 9pm on Wednesday August 19 and 6.30am on Thursday August 20.

The two-year-old cats are valuable and are worth £1,000 each.

Owner Kate Simon, who lives in Cockfosters, says she and her three children have been left devastated.

She said: "The cats are part of our family. We feel bereft.

"They are ragdoll cats but they are known to be very affectionate. They have been a source of relaxation, wellbeing, comfort.

"We just want the cats back. We want to whatever we can to bring them home. Our three children are devastated."

Ms Simon believes it is likely the cats, which are microchipped, have been offered for sale and she and her family have been searching websites to see if they have been put online.

It's believed the cattery has been randomly targeted and no one investigating the burglary has any idea who is behind it.

Nothing has been picked up by CCTV.

Marvin and Rochelle Humes have shown their support to the Simon family by advertising the missing cats on their Instagram.

PC Shazia Malik, who is investigating, said: "The family that the two cats belong to are understandably heartbroken, especially the young children who are desperately missing their pets.

"I am appealing for anyone who has seen the cats or anyone who thinks they have been offered them for sale to get in touch.

"Both cats are red/flame point which means they have pale ginger markings on their back, face, paws and tail. The ginger gently mixes in with white and both have blue eyes. Ragdoll cats are distinctive because they go floppy when you pick them up.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who thinks they have information about the burglary. Were you in the area? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Any information, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital in returning the cats back to their rightful owners.

"If you can help, please call the non-emergency number 101 or email me at shazia.malik@herts.pnn.police.uk quoting crime reference 41/66756/20.”
