A shopping centre has said it will refuse entry to customers not wearing a face mask from tomorrow.

intu Watford has said anyone visiting, whether to work or shop, must wear a face covering when walking around the centre.

People who are not wearing one will be refused entry or asked to leave.

The Government announced this month that from July 24 it will become mandatory to wear a mask in shops and supermarkets. People have been required to wear one on public transport from June 15.

But intu has said there are some exceptions, these being children under 11, people with disabilities or those with breathing difficulties.

Centre director at intu Watford, Vicki Costello said: "We have now seen many of our brands return and opening safely, adding to the already positive vibe within the centre.

"The public response has been fantastic and everyone is observing the guidelines to shop safely.

"In addition to existing safety measures we already have in place, from this Friday everyone that visits the centre, whether that's to work or to shop, will need to wear a face covering.

"We know that the experience will feel different however we hope these measures will help provide all our visitors with additional reassurance."

The centre has been operating with nearly all of its stores open and since restaurants and bars have received the greenlight to reopen, food chains such as The Florist have been able to open their doors again.

Rock Up indoor climbing is opening this Saturday (July 25) and Cineworld and Hollywood Bowl will follow shortly after.
