Oswestry Fire Station is appealing for unwanted vehicles as part of its training programme for its firefighters.

The station is looking for vehicles which are ready for scrap, which can be used in training scenarios as firefighters learn and practice life-saving techniques.

Staff at the station put out an appeal on Facebook last week, and are looking for free donations of vehicles only.

A spokesman for the fire station said: “Because of our ongoing road traffic collision training we require your help to find some vehicles that are ready for scrap.

“These vehicles help us to practice our lifesaving techniques so that when it really happens, we are professionally ready for every eventuality.

“Unfortunately, we cannot pay any money for the vehicles but we can arrange free collection locally.”

Vehicles can be collected anywhere within a 20-mile radius.

For more information, or to find out how to donate a vehicle, visit the Oswestry Fire Station Facebook page, or contact the station on 01743 260200.
