There are major disruptions on the M25 due to carriageway damages from a lorry on fire.

The M25 was shut this morning on the clockwise direction between Junction 27 for the M11 and Junction 28 for the A12 due to a fire.

Essex Police and Fire services were called to the scene to tackle the lorry on fire at around 5.30am.

The fire has since been extinguished but lanes 1, 2 and 3 remain closed for "complex recovery" of the lorry, and the damage caused to the carriageway.

The emergency services remain at the scene with traffic officers.

Now commuters are warned of severe delays of at least 90 minutes due to the incident.

The most affected routes are the M25 clockwise and M1 southbound approach to the lane closures, with delays covering several miles of carriageway.

Drivers are advised to allow plenty of extra journey time.
