AN animal loving family from Latchford is aiming to walk 150 miles to help Warrington Animal Welfare (WAW) continue its vital work.

Despite the coronavirus lockdown putting many WAW fundraising events on hold, the Rothwell family were determined to help the charity.

Connor, 11, Harry, nine, and four-year-old Toby, along with their mum Lynda, will be walking 150 miles in just 30 days, and have already raised more than £400.

Lynda explained: "We all love animals and think WAW do an amazing job.

"They rely on donations to be able to carry on helping animals in the way they do.

"We did a bake sale this time last year for WAW.

"The boys helped make cakes and sat outside our house and sold them to family, friends and lovely people passing by."

The Rothwell family presented almost £400 to WAW and had another bake sale planned for April.

After the coronavirus lockdown was announced, plans were put on hold, and Lynda instead suggested a walking challenge to raise funds.

She continued: "We came up with doing five miles a day, which takes us to 150 miles in 30 days!

"We thought this sounded easy at the time but still a challenge, and now we realise it is a big challenge for us.

"We had a few groans from Connor and Harry on day one but they are now enjoying most of it and the donations to our page makes them happy and spurs them on more.

"Toby is doing amazing on the walks for four years old."
