A Range Rover made off from police before later hitting a woman leaving her with potentially life-changing injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a hit-and-run on on the A406 North Circular on Tuesday.

Officers initially tried to pull over the white Range Rover at around 8pm as it had a poorly attached number plate.

The driver failed to pull over, changed direction and made off from police.

Still travelling on the A406, the driver approached Green Lanes, near Palmers Green, where it hit a 53-year-old pedestrian.

The driver did not stop at the scene.

The female pedestrian was rushed to hospital where the Met Police says she remains with potentially life-changing injuries.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath are investigating the collision and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has dash cam footage. Please contact them on 02085974874 or tweet @MetCC.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified as is routine and a referral made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
