A public meeting organised by a group campaigning against planned flats at a Tube station has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The meeting, set up by Save Cockfosters, had been due to take place at Christ Church House, Chalk Lane, Cockfosters, at 7pm on Thursday (March 19).
Save Cockfosters is opposing plans by Transport for London (TfL) and Grainger to build around 370 homes on car parks at Cockfosters Underground Station.
But a spokesperson for the group told the Enfield Independent the meeting had been cancelled in light of updated Government guidance around social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The group had considered live-streaming a scaled-down meeting via Facebook, but this was also cancelled after some key members had to self-isolate.
Save Cockfosters asked supporters to check its Facebook site for an update on Thursday evening.
The spokesperson said the group would lobby Enfield Council and TfL for a “significant delay” to the planning application in light of the changed circumstances caused by the virus outbreak.
