To celebrate its opening the Lord Mayor of Bradford councillor John Senior, was given the privilege of pulling the first pint.
The public house with its two frontages, one in Aldermanbury and one in Sunbridge Road, consisted of a back bar covered in Victorian mahogany to remind customers of its former days as the Empress Hotel. In the other half, commonly known as Spiders, a more modern feel, thanks to the abundance of coloured lights strung across the ceiling creating a web effect.
