Our election coverage kicked off at the beginning of December with each candidate allowed 250 words to explain why the public should vote for them. The Conservatives triumphed in the election but Labour candidates Feryal Clark, Bambos Charalambous, Kate Osamor and David Lammy won seats in Enfield North, Enfield Southgate, Edmonton and Tottenham respectively.
Meanwhile, local campaigners warned a major healthcare shake-up affecting Enfield is part of the creeping privatisation of the NHS. Members of a group called Defend Enfield NHS say a decision to merge the borough’s clinical commissioning group (CCG) with four neighbouring CCGs will lead to patient care being increasingly based on cost rather than need.
