The debate over changes to Enfield’s bin collections continued into November as Enfield Council said it received 274 reports of missed brown bin collections during the first week of the new service. The shake-up of bin rounds was designed to boost recycling and save £7.5million over five years. But one resident said it was “total disarray” in his street on the first day of their brown bin collections.

More than 2,000 people signed a councillor’s petition against flats planned for Arnos Grove Underground Station. Cllr Daniel Anderson called for a rethink of proposals to build 150 flats at the tube station, warning it would cause more traffic and parking problems in surrounding streets.

Plans to regenerate Joyce Avenue and Snell’s Park estates in Enfield could see more than 2,000 new homes built. The £770million scheme hoped to redevelop the ageing housing estates.
