Drivers must have heaved huge sighs of relief after a NATO summit which brought three days of traffic disruption came to a close.

There were long queues on the A41 and in and around Leavesden yesterday after Hempstead Road was shut for 25 hours to keep The Grove hotel and grounds secure from the wider public.

Further road closures had been in place on Monday and Tuesday too.

The bad news is that some of the roads will need to close again to take down some of the security measures that had been put in place.

A long line of fencing, supported by concrete blocks, was erected along Langleybury Lane while there are also barriers at several checkpoints that need to be cleared.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed that roads will be closed overnight on Thursday and Friday to allow all of this to be dismantled.

Langleybury Lane, Fir Tree Hill, Old House Lane, and Grove Mill Lane will be closed between 6pm Thursday December 5 until 6am December 6, as well as from 6pm December 6 until 6am December 7.

Hempstead Road is unaffected.

Motorists are advised to take extra time if heading this way.
