Construction work is underway to build 128 homes as part of the second phase of a scheme to deliver 436 homes – 38 per cent of which will be affordable.

Feature17, Countryside Properties’ Walthamstow regeneration scheme, a joint venture with Waltham Forest Council, will see a total of 436 new homes delivered in Marlowe Road, Walthamstow, with 150 council homes for affordable rent, completed in March 2024.

Demolition work has been completed to make way for 128 new homes as part of the second phase of the project.

A special ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the demolition works last week.

Phase two of the development will include a variety of houses and apartments across a mixture of tenures, as well as a play area and landscaped plaza.

Andy Fancy, managing director, countryside, said: “The successful completion of the demolition work is a significant milestone, which allows us to continue making progress on Feature17.

“In partnership with Waltham Forest Council, we are creating much more than just houses – the community amenities and retail spaces introduced as part of the scheme will redefine the area and help it thrive.”

As part of the scheme, Countryside will create retail space managed by the council around a new plaza with a play area, water feature and improved walkways and cycle routes, linking into Waltham Forest’s ‘Mini Holland’ scheme.

Phase one of Feature17, completed in November 2018, saw 80 private and affordable units completed

A spokesperson for Countryside said: “Feature17 is on the doorstep of Walthamstow Village, popular with locals and those living in other areas of London thanks to the variety of independent shops and restaurants, as well as an emerging café culture.

“Conveniently located just a short distance from Wood Street station, an area renowned for its links to Walthamstow’s silent film history, Feature17 is a great option for those looking to settle down in the heart of a vibrant community with a rich cultural heritage.”
