A mother whose 18-month-old boy died after falling from a council flat is demanding a full investigation into the incident.

Duygu Agac's baby son Ali fell from the ninth floor of Stellar House, a 20 storey-block in High Road, Tottenham last Thursday (October 31) just before 11am.

He was found in a critical condition and was pronounced dead at 11.39am, after being taken to a north London hospital.

Ms Agac - who is now calling for a full investigation - told the Evening Standard she reported an issue with the window to the council and claims the window handle didn’t lock after maintenance staff came to look at it.

The council said it is working to investigate the incident with Homes for Haringey, which manages council housing.

Haringey Council chief executive Zina Etheridge said: “We can confirm that Homes for Haringey had attended the property to deal with a window repair request.

“It would not be appropriate for us to speculate or go into further details about this until we have a fuller picture.

“Homes for Haringey are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances.

“As a council, we are urgently seeking a fuller understanding of the situation, and all possibilities will be explored as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

“Police enquiries are also continuing.

"Our deepest sympathies remain with the family at this time.”
