A goods charity has sent out urgent supplies to people hit by a hurricane.
There has been utter devastation in the Bahamas with thousands of homes destroyed and the storm claiming at least 20 lives.
Borehamwood-based Goods for Good, which sends out goods to countries in need around the world, has for the first time in its five-year history helped out in a disaster zone.
Founder Rosalind Bluestone said: "This is the first time we have been able to send a container of humanitarian aid to a disaster zone (the Bahamas). Working with our charity partners in Holland and with a registered partner in the Bahamas, we knew that we had the capacity to supply some of the goods urgently needed.
"The container is now on its way; packed with mattresses, feminine hygiene products, warm blankets, and shovels with a value of £104,352.
"We now need to raise £7,000 to cover the costs."
Rosalind recently returned from a trip to Moldova.
She said: "Not everyone can say that they have travelled back in time and seen abject poverty so near to Europe. We distributed wellies donated Hunter Boots and brand new clothing and footwear donated by many UK companies to villages, community centres, and hospitals."

To date, Goods for Good has donated more than £18m worth of humanitarian aid to those in need around the world.
