The timings on some temporary traffic lights this morning caused trouble for motorists during this morning's rush hour.
The lights in Water Lane, near the ring road, led to queues in Waterfields Way all the way back to Century Park retail park.
It was particularly bad at around 8.45am but by 9am, the roads were completely clear.
An officer managing the lights in Water Lane said there had been a couple of issues with the settings and sensors of the lights during busier periods, but seemed hopeful this morning's delays will not be repeated.
But can drivers can inevitably expect delays in the area while work is ongoing, being so close to the town centre.
The two-way lights are scheduled to be in place until October 5 with Affinity Water carrying out a lead replacement programme.
Affinity Water has apologised for any inconvenience caused by this work.
