A parish council is seeking views on whether residents would support making a temporary car park permanent.
Watford Rural Parish Council has launched a survey regarding the 55-space car park in Henbury Way, South Oxhey - which replaced the car park in Bridlington Road.
The current plans are to turn the free Henbury Way car park into a public space or park once the regeneration project in South Oxhey is complete.
Vice-chairman of the parish council, Cllr Brigid Kelly, has fears the "already difficult" parking situation may get "worse".
Cllr Kelly added: "The new housing which is now set to increase from 514 to 651 homes will not have anywhere near sufficient parking so the pressure is really on for solutions."
South Oxhey ward councillor Stephen Cox added: "I am pleased that the parish council has taken such a proactive move and contacted nearby flats directly seeking residents’ views. Labour’s next estate-wide newsletter will provide a further opportunity for people to have their say."
A spokesperson for Three Rivers District Council said: "The council has spoken with developer Countryside about retaining the car park permanently. The car park has been built to permanent rather than temporary standards, and therefore could be retained without further work, but planning permission would be required.
"Parking is provided for all the new homes, including the additional numbers."
