A 15-year-old girl has been arrested after a stolen Mini Cooper overturned on the A127 after a police chase.

The stolen car was spotted on the A127 at around 9.15pm on Sunday evening.

It failed to stop, leading to a police chase.

The car left the road and overturned near the Mayflower Retail Park in Basildon.

Inside were three teenagers, a 15-year-old girl and two 16-year-old boys.

All three were taken to hospital and then taken into custody.

The two boys - one from Ilford and the other from Barking - was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The girl, who is from Barking, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink and drugs.
