St Albans has been revealed as one of the luckiest when it comes to jackpot wins in the UK.

Bookmakers Paddy Power Games has trawled through its most successful locations in the UK based on the highest total amount won, and the number of winners on Paddy Power’s gaming platform.

The statistics show St Albans (£1,810,532), is the third most fruitful winning location - notably winning more jackpots than large UK cities such as Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds.

Newcastle topped the table. The Geordies have won more than double any other location in terms of winning (£4,295,014). St Helier came out in second.

A spokesman for Paddy Power Games said: “Kirstie and Phil were right all along – when it comes to profit, it’s all about location, location, location. From Geordie joy, to Isle of Wight winners, our comprehensive research demonstrates the existence of some clear ‘jackpot hotspots’ around the UK.

“Lady Luck has clearly taken up residence in St Albans with £1,810,532 in winnings making it one of the luckiest places in the UK and it looks like we’ll have to keep a close eye on these postcodes making a mockery of lottery.”
