A Camp aims to introduce girls from year 5 to 8 to the world of technology and careers in STEM professions

ACI Worldwide is a financial tech company that has announced its second Coding for Girls Camp in the UK.

The software company has teamed up with West Herts College in Watford to run the free one-day event at the college campus on March 16.

The course is designed to introduce girls to the world of technology and careers in high-tech professions.

The programme offers a crash course in computer programming, including the coding languages HTML, CSS and Java.

Melissa McKendry, Vice President, ACI Worldwide said: “After last year’s successful launch, we are excited to bring another Coding for Girls Camp to the UK.

“This initiative is all about getting girls excited about technology and teaching them about the opportunities for women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) related professions.

“The payments and fintech industry in Europe is growing, and offers fantastic career opportunities for young men and women.

“In the years to come, the industry will need many more skilled software engineers, computer programmers and data scientists.

“I firmly believe that girls need an introduction to coding and other STEM areas at a young age, so that down the road they can enter professions in the tech field.”

The course will be held at West Herts College in Hempstead Road, Watford on Saturday, March 16, 9am to 1pm.
