It took five fire crews almost two hours to put out a raging chimney fire.
At 8.52pm on Friday, February 15 one crew from Loughton and four from the London Fire Brigade were called to Broadfield Way in Buckhurst Hill.
There they were confronted with a fire in the chimney of a semi-detached house.
The blaze had spread to the flat roof of the single storey extension.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire by 10:40pm.
The blaze has caused severe damage to the chimney and also the flat roof of the extension.
