A date has been set for the funeral of a woman who tragically died on her birthday while on holiday.

On Christmas Eve Lynne Crouch was taken ill at her Dominican Republic hotel where she was enjoying a Christmas getaway with her husband Peter.

The Greensted Road, Loughton mum was rushed first to Punta Cana medical centre and then to a large hospital in capital Santo Domingo.

After six days of battling an infection associated with meningitis Mrs Crouch died on January 30 - her 54th birthday.

Following a lengthy struggle to have her repatriated, Mr Crouch has arranged her funeral for Wednesday, February 13.

A tribute journey will set off from their home at 10.30am, followed by a service at Forest Park Crematorium in Hainault at 12pm.

A celebration of Mrs Crouch’s life will then take place at the Loughton Club.

As a mark of respect the RMT Union's head office - where Mrs Crouch worked - will be shut on the day of the funeral.

In a tribute to Mrs Crouch made by one of her close friends she is described as being a "genuinely beautiful person" with a "heart of gold".

It continues: "You use to laugh out loud with the biggest smile on your face and eyes sparkling with happiness.

"You have an amazing, good soul that was taken from us way too soon."
