A man has been jailed for aggravated burglary.

Diego Correa, 25, was part of a group who broke into a property in Tottenham armed with knives and threatened the occupants on May 18 last year.

Correa of Devon Close in Tottenham was sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment for aggravated burglary at Wood Green Crown Court today.

He was also jailed for 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon - both sentences will run concurrently.

The court heard how the male victim, 47, was on his way home from work when Correa approached him as part of a group of four or five males.

A large knife was produced and held to the victim who handed over his personal property out of fear for his safety.

The group then took the victim to his home address where they forced their way into the property armed with knives.

The victim's partner and daughter were at the address and were dragged out of their respective rooms and forced into the kitchen where they were told not to move.

The group demanded to know the location of valuable property inside the address and eventually made off with items including watches and jewellery valued at £6,000.

The men later returned and stole the victim's vehicle which was recovered by the police in the Tottenham area.

Correa was identified as one of the suspects and arrested on May 24 2018, where he was charged the next day.

The other members of the group are still being sought by police.

Correa was convicted on December 10.
