A leading Remain campaigner will speak in Watford tomorrow night.

Andrew Adonis, a former transport secretary who served in the Labour government for five years, will speak at a public meeting organised by pro-EU group Watford for Europe.

Lord Adonis is currently touring the country promoting the People’s Vote, a second referendum on Brexit. He will give a speech before taking questions from the audience.

Watford had the closest result in the country in the 2016 referendum, with remain ahead by 252 votes.

The talk will take place at The Wellspring Church Centre, in Wellspring Way, tomorrow from 7pm.

John Maguire, chairman of Watford for Europe, said: "I'm really pleased that we are hosting Lord Adonis. It is a massively pertinent time for this debate, just days before MPs will vote on the proposed Brexit deal.

"As the Brexit process unravels and it becomes further away from what was debated in 2016, it is becoming more and more obvious that the only way forward is to hold a genuine People's Vote on the deal. If people aren't happy with what is being offered, they should have the option to Remain."
