Three lanes closed on the M1 northbound due to a multi-vehicle collision have now reopened.
Highways England reported the incident between junction eight and nine citing delays of up to 60 minutes.
The agency advised caution on approach and extra journey time to be factored in.
Delays are still expected in the short-term and motorists should consider using the M40 if travelling to the midlands.
