Festive lights are on display after a quiz night helped raise the funds.

The 400m chain of Christmas lights were provided by Woodford Green Amenity Group after a successful fundraising quiz night.

Until ten years ago, the group would annually decorate the fir tree in the garden of the Broadway Surgery, but have been unable to do so since it was chopped down.

The new lights have been draped on another tree in the surgery and these were switched on on December 3.

Woodford Green Amenity Group vice-chairman Michael Brook, 72, said: “This year, our funds in the group were very low so we had to cut back on the hanging baskets in the Broadway and on the High Road.

“But we had a very successful quiz evening this year with 150 people attending meaning we raised enough to engage a lighting company to produce a stunning Christmas feature.”

Lighting company Dreamwave Events installed the lighting.
