Tottenham MP David Lammy spoke out against the ‘culture of violence’ in the capital after the first week of April saw another four killings take place, including the death of a teenage girl in his constituency. Tanesha Melbourne, 17, was shot dead in a drive-by attack in Chalgrove Road, Tottenham, on April 9. Mr Lammy described the bloodshed on the streets of London as the “worst he has ever seen”.

Haringey Labour group confirmed it would not go ahead with the controversial public-private housing partnership known as the Haringey Development Vehicle. The decision followed widespread criticism from left-wing party members that the HDV would not provide the affordable homes needed for residents.

Supporters of Enfield for Europe took to the streets of Southgate to hand out postcards for people to send to local MPS asking them to back a second vote on EU membership. The group claimed the borough stands to lose millions of pounds in funding if Britain leaves the EU.
