Do you know about a series of cheeky and cheesy short films shot right here in Borehamwood and Shenley?

If the answer is nohere is all you need to know about Cheese on Toast, a series of satirical and lighthearted shorts with only one target in mind - to make you laugh.

James Sharpe, who lives in Shenley, came up with the idea alongside Peter Barfield, who he met in 2007. Originally, the pair created short films as a hobby but then they thought it would be a great idea to create films which are intentionally “stupid, silly, and cheesy”, hence the name Cheese on Toast.

Since then, Mr Sharpe, 46, alongside recurring cast members, has come up with a series of hilarious skits and sketches right from the very start where a girl ends up buying a car stereo. Unbeknown to her, she bought back her own car stereo from the thief who had stolen it.

When it comes to filming, some scenes take less than half-an-hour to shoot while others have taken around five hours.

Every scene has been shot in Borehamwood and Shenley bar one.

The show regularly stars Freya Barry, Sarah Langton, Marian Keogh, Kerry Hurst, Paul King, Simon Matthews, and Zara Swanton.

Mr Sharpe is on the look-out for extras however, the filmmaker is taking a short break at the moment due to illness.

The videos are published on Cheese on Toast’s Facebook page and there are plenty more skits that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face..

Speaking about Cheese on Toast, Mr Sharpe said: “It is a sketch show that links characters in Borehamwood and Shenley. It is good and old-fashioned but has a rather rude side to it with a modern twist. It’s not recommended for children though!”
