Police and the council have announced a “day of action” to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

People in Harrow are invited to meet police teams for a day of activities to combat crime, on September 21 at 12pm.

The Day of Action organised in conjunction with Harrow Council, will start from 1 Headstone Drive.

On the day, police from Marlborough, Wealdstone and Harrow Weald will be on hand, as will Roads and Transport Policing Command, representatives from the Westminster Drugs Project, officers from Kingdom Security and the council’s licensing department.

Police activities will include weapons sweeps, tackling street drinkers in Wealdstone Square, visiting premises along with the council’s Trading Standards, dispersals, alcohol seizures and enforcing public space protection orders.

There will also be a street briefing for those in the community taking part in the weapon sweeps, with an introduction by Inspector Tanya Sprunks, at 12pm.

Trading Standards will offer help and referrals for alcoholics, drug addicts and homeless people on the day, and a Safer Schools police officer will conduct a weapons sweep at Salvadorian and Sacred Heart Schools.

Borough Commander, Simon Rose, said: “These action days help us reach the community and are a great opportunity to show everyone what activities we are doing with our partners in the borough to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

“We will also be working with enforcement partners, such as Kingdom to deal with the current issues around Wealdstone, including street drinking and enforcing public space protection orders where we need to.

“Anyone who wishes to participate can come along to the briefing at 12pm.”
