An MP has called upon rail bosses to clean up their act after the "chaotic introduction" of a new timetable.

Joan Ryan MP for Enfield North met with Stuart Cheshire of Govia Thameslink Railway – Great Northern’s parent company.

Ms Ryan spoke on behalf of angry commuters at Enfield Chase, Gordon Hill and Crews Hill stations.

Ms Ryan said: “The rail chaos we have seen since May has been completely unacceptable.

"The Government, Network Rail and Great Northern need to take their fair share of responsibility for this shambles.

"Enfield commuters are having to pay sky high prices for a rock bottom service.

"With the introduction of yet another timetable last weekend – this sorry situation needs to be sorted out, and quickly.

"They must deliver the vastly improved standard of service which Enfield's commuters deserve.”

A Govia Thameslink Railway spokesperson said:

"There is an improving picture on Thameslink and Great Northern following the introduction of the interim timetable on Sunday, which was designed to be more robust and has 200 more services than before 20 May.

"We are running more trains, more reliably, as the Rail Minister confirmed on Wednesday.”
