As is the way with bottomless brunches, possibly the biggest weekend and social media craze in existence, I could not believe how long I spent eating at Eastway Brasserie.

Tucked into the five star Andaz London Liverpool Street Hotel, the French restaurant is a popular jaunt during the week for lunch, drinks and dinner outside of working hours.

Now, their new sharing brunch menu with bottomless drinks and desserts, has put it on the map for weekend indulgences.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

Featuring an innovative sharing option, contemporary twists on culinary classics, unlimited desserts and a variety of bottomless drink options, the menu has been designed to create the “ultimate sharing experience” with a creatively concocted menu that changes weekly.

Starters include avocado and quinoa with hummus and pomegranate, a red quinoa fruit salad, sweetcorn fritters with avocado, egg and crumbled feta, heirloom tomato with anchovies, gin and tonic cured salmon, and dill Nduja arancini with spicy sausage and mozzarella.

You aren’t given the opportunity to choose from these. Not until they are all laid out in front of you that is, because they are all included. This was explained to me, but even as they brought them one-by-one to the table I could not believe it. It was a lot of food – thankfully, all fairly light and healthy.

You then choose a main from the likes of chocolate pancakes served with vanilla cream, amaretto chocolate sauce and mixed berries, smashed avocado with smoked salmon on grilled sourdough toast with a poached egg, Shakshuka eggs or a full English breakfast.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

As the brunch is served as late as 4pm, mains also include dishes such as king prawn, crayfish and rocket linguine, roast stone bass and potato bravas, and spring lamb shoulder ragout.

I chose the smashed avocado with smoked salmon on grilled sourdough toast with a poached egg while my friend went for the full English. Both were spectacular but neither of us were able to finish.

After already making our way through a couple of Bellini’s we spotted the bar staff putting together a jug of sangria and, in celebration of the uncharacteristically hot weather that day, we indulged while giving ourselves a little break from eating.

We couldn’t leave without dessert, of course. These are available via a very beautifully presented feasting counter. We chose from an abundance of cakes, sweet treats, pastries and assorted mini desserts. There were lighter options also - unlimited fresh fruit and individual yoghurt pots.

I know it sounds like a lot – like I said, we were there for a long time. Pushing the two hour time limit was beyond the brink. If you have less time – or want less food – each dish is available to purchase individually, but £28 is already a steal.

The restaurant wasn’t too busy and so not only was service fast and faultless, but the staff were impeccably attentive and affable.

It is the perfect way to start a day off, with Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and the Whitechapel Gallery nearby to continue your leisurely day.
