A street party celebrating St George’s Day raised more than £2,000 for charity.

Enfield was in full swing outside The Wonder Pub in Batley Road for its annual St George’s Day street party on Saturday, April 21.

This year, they raised money for homeless charity Todos Together UK raising £2,266.

Neighbour Enda Keane said' “I love bringing my son to these events because it’s teaching him how fortunate he is and raising awareness of homelessness.

“Plus it’s great fun.”

More than 1000 people attended the party, buying raffle tickets, drinks, food, and playing games.

The money will be spent on food, drink, clothes, sleeping bags and sanitary products.

Tilly Ann Martin and Michelle Gibbons from Todos Together UK said: “We are completely overwhelmed by the support on the day and which we receive continuously from our community.

“It makes us so proud to be from Enfield.

“The atmosphere was buzzing and everyone had a smile on their face which means the world to us.

“A massive thank you to everyone, we’ve been walking on sunshine today.”

Alison Ostacchini, General Manager at The Wonder said: “Being my first St George’s street party since taking over The Wonder pub, it was such an amazing day for myself and the team.

“The Wonder epitomises the very definition of a community pub and that was evident more than ever on Saturday.

“The atmosphere was fantastic, people who had never met before came together to raise awareness and donations for such a fantastic local charity.

“It was an absolute honour to welcome everyone to become part of The Wonder family for the day and we look forward to carrying on the tradition for many years to come.”

The Market Grill kept with the English theme by serving traditional Fish and Chips from a Black Cab.

Several businesses also donated to the party; James Whittaker, La Caverna, Mode, Saathi, Malone & Co., Lillys Nails, The Cricketers, Lane St. Wines, Champneys Enfield, Tessa Stevens, Creams.
