A teenage boy was stabbed while another is fighting for his life after being shot.

Police were called to Walthamstow Leisure Centre, in Markhouse Road, at around 10pm last night where they found a 16-year-old with gunshot injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Meanwhile another boy, 15, was found stabbed but his condition is not currently known.

The spokeswoman said: "A 16-year-old boy was found with gun shot injuries. He has been taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"A second victim, aged 15, has been taken to an east London hospital with stab injuries. We await an update on his condition."

This comes less than half an hour after a girl, 17, was killed during a shooting in Chalgrove Road, Tottenham.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 9.30pm but she could not be saved.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and a 17-year-old girl was found at the scene with a gunshot wound.

"Despite the best efforts of the LAS, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.43pm.

"Her next of kin are aware and a crime scene is in place. No arrests have been made at this stage."

It is not known whether the two attacks are linked.
