A SHOPWORKER assaulted while he was at work has now died in hospital.

Hundreds have paid tribute to Vijay Patel, from Colindale, after he was found lying on the pavement outside Rota Express, where he worked, at 11.45pm on Saturday.

The 49-year-old was taken to hospital by paramedics but died yesterday afternoon.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on January 8 and is being held in custody at a police station in north London.

The three suspects have been described as three black, male teenagers.

One was wearing a red sweatshirt, black jeans and white trainers, another was wearing a dark grey or black tracksuit and black trainers, and the third was wearing a dark coloured hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

Meanwhile, a JustGiving page to raise money for his family has been set up.

Detectives are currently going house to house to continue their enquiries are are interested to find anyone who may have captured the incident on video.
