TRAIN stations in Enfield will become part of the tube network.

Transport for London will take over the Great Northern Services between Kings Cross and Moorgate, which also passes through Enfield Chase Rail Station.

It hopes to create a “more joined up London rail network” by 2021.

The London Suburban Metro service will run trains every 15 minutes.

The plan to increase the number of trains on the lines will help “poorly serviced areas Joanne McCartney, Labour London assembly member for Enfield and Haringey, said: “I am delighted to see that after years of campaigning the Government have seen sense and agreed to transfer responsibility for the Great Northern franchise to TfL.

“Whilst this is a positive decision and will make train services directly accountable to local people, the fact we have to wait 5 years to see it happen is a real disappointment.

“If the Government truly understood the issues passengers face when using these lines they’d be pushing to make this change as soon as practically possible.

“I will be pushing TfL to ensure that when the Great Northern franchise is taken over, there is adequate and good quality rolling stock so services do improve for passengers.”
