AN EVESHAM chippy could be in line to net the title of best mobile fish and chip shop at a prestigious industry awards ceremony this month.

The Starchip Enterprise UK LTD has been shortlisted for a prize at The National Fish and Chip Awards 2016, organised by Seafish.

It is up against two others in the Best Mobile Fish and Chip Operator Award category, and winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday, January 20.

Mel Groundsell, corporate relations director of Seafish, said: "The high level of standards and professionalism embedded within the businesses participating in this year’s awards has been outstanding.

"I’d like to offer up my congratulations to all of our finalists and wish them the very best as they vie to be crowned a winner, but also thank them for upholding our high industry standards and helping us to reinforce the UK’s reputation as the home of the world’s best fish and chips."

It is the second time Starchip, which has been running for three-and-a-half years, has been nominated for a prize at the awards ceremony.

Last year the business came second overall.

The National Fish and Chip Awards showcases fish and chip businesses in the UK and has been running for around 27 years.
